Spread Of Fire At Carrollwood Battery Store Halted By Firefighters

Hillsborough fire rescue was able to contain the fire, preventing the spread to hazardous materials.

CARROLLWOOD, FL — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue battled a fire at 10321 N Dale Mabry Highway early Wednesday morning.

Multiple calls came into the dispatch center from passersby reporting smoke coming from the Tampa Bay Battery building.

Engine 19 was first on the scene, reporting heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the front of the building. Firefighters quickly deployed a handline and suppressed the fire through the broken window from the front of the store, then advanced the handline to the interior to completely extinguish the blaze.

Additional crews assisted with firefighting operations and conducted searches of the store. There were no occupants inside the building at the time of the fire. Hillsborough fire rescue was able to contain the blaze to a small part of the front of the store, minimizing damage and preventing the spread to other areas with potentially hazardous materials.

There were no injuries. The fire damage is isolated to the area of an old neon sign system.
