CLEARWATER, FL — The city of Clearwater is collaborating with the nonprofit Southern Alliance for Clean Energy to promote the city's new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Coachman Park.

An opening celebration for six EV charging stations installed in parking spaces and a public EV test drive event will take place Friday, Dec. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Parking Lot 11 at 224 Pierce St. near Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater.

This event will fulfill two strategies of the city's Greenprint 2.0 Transportation plan: to host a minimum of one event per year at which the public is encouraged to try an electric vehicle, and to continue installing public EV charging stations.

To commemorate the installation of six new EV charging stations in Parking Lot 11, the city is hosting an opening celebration coupled with a public electric vehicle test drive. The celebration will be part of the Driving on Sunshine Roadshow, a program of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, which provides an opportunity for drivers and passengers to experience first-hand what it's like to ride or drive in an electric vehicle.

The city has installed several public electric vehicle charging stations and has plans to expand. To date, the city has installed two chargers in the Garden Avenue Parking Garage and six chargers on Pierce Street.
