Clearwater Bicyclist Killed In Collision: Police

CLEARWATER, FL — A 49-year-old Clearwater woman died Wednesday night when she was hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle, according to the Clearwater Police Department. The police did not release the woman's name on Thursday, or information on the vehicle that struck her.

The collision occurred where the Duke Energy Trail crosses Nursery Road. The woman failed to yield to traffic on Nursery Road and was struck, the police said.

The woman died after being taken to a local hospital, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, the police said. They closed down Nursery Road between Belcher Road and U.S. 19 for several hours Wednesday night to investigate the accident.
