CLEARWATER, FL — Trash collection may be affected by imminent severe weather, according to a release from the City of Clearwater.

The city is informing residents that they shouldn't put out waste to be collected on Friday until after the storm. A weather advisory predicting wind gusts of up to 45 mph is the cause of the delay.

The release said "flying trash and debris will be unavoidable if it is not secured."

Commercial customers are also being warned that if they put loose, unbagged material in their dumpsters, it will inevitably blow around during collection, so it's best to bag trash.

Trash collection won't begin until the area's wind gusts are below 35 mph, and collectors won't operate until it's safe to do so.
