Clearwater Police Mourn Loss of Own of Their Own
Retired Maj. Mark Teunis' memorial service will be held Saturday.

The Clearwater Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its veteran officers.
Retired Maj. Mark Teunis passed away earlier this week, the agency reported on its Facebook page Thursday. Teunis was a 32-year veteran of the Clearwater force. He began his career in 1982 and rose through the ranks to retire as the major overseeing the support services division in December 2014.
Teunis served in a number of capacities throughout his career. He was a member of the city’s SWAT team, worked in street crimes and also served as a narcotics detective, among other tasks.

A memorial service for Teunis, 54, will be held at Countryside Christian Center, 1850 N. McMullen Booth Road, this Saturday at 10 a.m.
