Why did you start your blog?

I started my blog shortly after losing my dad, with no real direction on where I wanted to go with it, other than I thought it would be a good place to have a voice for whatever I was feeling. Over time it took on a life of its own!

What do you do when you're not blogging?

Running, walking, hot yoga, reading, playing with our two Australian Shepherds, spending time with my husband and family, and trying to be active! I set a personal goal of completing 10 races in 2013!

How has your blog evolved over time?

I’ve always struggled with my weight so that has become the main focus of my blog. 2012 was the year that I started doing races and it has really become a healthy living/fitness blog with focus on trying to become a runner, which does not come easy to me.

What have you learned from your own blog?

I have learned that I am much stronger than I realize. For me, it’s like a journal and scrapbook of all the amazing things I accomplish and take part in. I also hope that I inspire and motivate my reader’s as I have been by other bloggers. Doing my first half marathon in February 2012 was such a huge accomplishment and one that I will never forget. My blog helps me to remember these accomplishments. My blog has also given a voice to the writer in me…I love to write.

How do you keep from going crazy during this crazy life of yours?

Running and being active is my stress relief. You know that saying, it’s cheaper than therapy? It’s true. Nothing can turn a bad day around like getting out there and moving or maybe sweating it out in hot yoga class. I also have a wonderful husband, and I am lucky to have a close family who gets together often.

Tampa Bay hosts plenty of marathons, half-marathons and mud runs—which race has the best atmosphere during and after the race?

I will have to say the Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon in St Pete, which was my first experience with a half marathon. Everyone is wonderful, the energy is fun, and it’s such a great time. It will always hold a special place in my heart. I also want to add that most recently, the Best Damn Race 5K in Safety Harbor was a great time, too, especially since it was on my birthday!
