PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Pinellas County is developing an emergency project to shore up the coast areas that were most severely impacted by Hurricane Idalia.

The plan includes temporary sand stabilization dune, reconstruction or a combination of both, depending on the site's needs. This work, like any proposed construction on the coast, requires state and federal authorizations. Pinellas County commissioners are in discussions with the regulatory agencies, so the county work can move forward as quickly as possible.

Unpermitted work will impact the county's ability to move the emergency measures forward , so residents should not attempt to armor or alter the shoreline without authorizations.
