Fun ‘n Sun Clearwater 2017: What To Know Before You Go

The annual event highlights the Clearwater area through music, food and fun.

CLEARWATER, FL – For more than 60 years, the City of Clearwater has hosted a springtime event to encourage tourists to lengthen their stay in the area.

Fun ‘n Sun Clearwater has evolved into a celebration of all things Clearwater, highlighting several events, celebrations and concerts taking place around town.

Here’s what area residents need to know before you go to the events of Fun ‘n Sun Clearwater 2017:

Kenny G in Concert

Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road will kick off 2017 Fun ‘n Sun Clearwater with Grammy award-winning saxophonist Kenny G on Friday, April 21 at 8 p.m. at Coachman Park, 301 Drew St. He will be joined by ukulele wizard Jake Shimabukuro. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Individual tickets range from $24 to $45. VIP tickets are available for $99, and include a premium seat, access to the VIP area, beer, wine, soft drinks and light snacks. General admission patrons can rent chairs inside the park for $5. Food trucks will be on site to provide concessions.

Live Love Clearwater

The City of Clearwater and Pierce Street Market join forces to produce Live Love Clearwater, a celebration of local businesses, artist, bands, local breweries and handmade artisans. The event takes place on Saturday, April 22 at Coachman Park. More than 100 local businesses and vendors are scheduled to participate.

The open-air market takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local bands will perform from 1 to 4 p.m.

Fun ‘n Sun @ Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival

While the 2017 Sugar Sand Festival takes place from April 14-23, the last day of the event is highlighted in the Fun ‘n Sun Festival. The festival, which takes place on Clearwater Beach, 10 Pier 60 Drive, is a beach-wide festival that celebrates the famed white-sand beach.

Free activities will take place all day, including a children’s play area, street performers, artisans and crafters, live entertainment, fireworks, sand sculpting classes, speed sand demonstrations and the master sand sculpting competition.

Fun ‘n Country

The 2017 Fun ‘n Sun Clearwater turns country for its grand finale with the Fun ‘n Country concert on Saturday, April 29 in Coachman Park. This year’s event, which runs from 2 to 10 p.m., features:

  • Billy Currington
  • Chase Rice
  • A Thousand Horses
  • Runaway June
  • Aubrey Wollett

General admission tickets are $10 before the event and $20 the day of the concert. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. VIP tickets are $75 before the event and $85 at the concert. VIP tickets include three drink tickets, unlimited soda and water, access to the VIP bar, dinner between 5 and 7 p.m. from Abe’s Place Tap & Grill while supplies last, private air-conditioned restrooms, access to the pit area in front of the stage and a shaded lounge area.
