Pinellas County In 5-Day Forecast For Tropical Storm Fred
Pinellas County is now monitoring the forecast track and preparing for the possible impacts from the storm.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — The National Hurricane Center has placed Pinellas County in the five-day forecast for Tropical Storm Fred.
Pinellas County is monitoring the forecast track and preparing for the possible impacts from the storm. While forecasters have some confidence in the track of the storm, the intensity of the storm remains uncertain.
Regardless of the storm’s eventual track and strength, high winds, rain, flooding and storm surge may impact Pinellas County as early as Saturday evening. Residents should continue to monitor local weather sources for information on local impacts.

The County Information Center will be open for preparedness questions Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 727-464-4333. Residents who are deaf or hard of hearing can contact the CIC via online PinellasChat.
County crews are preparing drainage systems and roadways to reduce the risk of flooding.

What Residents Should Do Now
- While it’s too early to tell, it’s always best to have a plan in the event you need to shelter in place or leave your home.
- Look up your evacuation zone in one of the following ways:
- Visit the Pinellas County flood zone map.
- Download the Ready Pinellas app for iOS or Android
- If you have a landline, you can call 727-453-3150 and enter your 10-digit home phone number.
- Stay informed:
- Sign up for Alert Pinellas.
- Monitor local news media, National Weather Service, the Pinellas County Government website, Facebook @PinellasCountyNews and Twitter @PinellasCoNews.
- Review tips and planning tools in the 2021 All Hazard Guide online.
- Review your disaster plan:
- Preregister for special needs shelters.
- Preregistration is recommended for those transporting themselves to special needs shelters. For those needing transportation assistance, registration is required.
- Residents only need to register for special needs shelters once per season. If you registered before Tropical Storm Elsa, you do not have to do it again.
- Purchase necessary items to complete your survival kit now.
- Prepare your kit. Be sure to include necessary hygiene supplies and gather important papers. For those going to a shelter, bring face coverings and sanitizer.
- Review the checklist online.
- If you need to take a pet with you to the shelter, download and complete the form.
