Police Seek Public's Help in Nov. 20 Hit-and-Run

The Clearwater Police Department is still searching for a driver who hit a 22-year-old motorcyclist on Hampton Road and fled the scene.

Clearwater Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a driver who left the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash with a 22-year-old motorcyclist.

Martin Jay (Marty) Baltimore of Clearwater died after the Nov. 20 crash at Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and Hampton Road. Baltimore was riding a motorcycle on his way to pick up his girlfriend around 7:40 p.m. when a driver making a left turn northbound onto Hampton Road struck Baltimore and fled the scene.

Baltimore’s mother, father and grandmother joined police at the scene of the incident Monday during a news conference in which they asked the driver to come forward.

“I am asking you from the bottom of my heart to please help us,” said Baltimore’s grandmother, Maralyn Gilbert, at the news conference.

The car is described as a black, dark red or another dark color box-style vehicle with possible damage to the side of the vehicle near the rear quarter panel or bumper. Clearwater Police released video surveillance of the car captured by a nearby business’ security camera Monday afternoon.
