Waterspout Spotted Near Clearwater Beach
A Friday afternoon storm produced a waterspout in the Intracoastal Waterway near Clearwater Beach.

CLEARWATER, FL — A Friday afternoon waterspout that passed through the Intracoastal Waterway was visible from Clearwater Beach. Although the spout made a few jaws drop, no injuries or property damaged were reported.
According to the Clearwater Police Department, the waterspout spun into the area around 3 p.m. Followers of the agency’s Facebook page also reported seeing it in the Dunedin area.
Waterspouts are fairly common sights along the Tampa Bay area’s coastline, especially this time of year. The Sunshine State has earned the dubious distinction in the past of having the highest number of tornadoes per square mile in the country thanks to the water-borne twisters.
