Maya-Fookem Open in Grove in Time for Christmas

Power retailers greet Grand Avenue shoppers to easternmost Little Bahamas shopping district.

Miami, Fla. - A power couple of local retailers has joined forces to open a Grand Avenue location in Coconut Grove's Little Bahamas community.

Josh Abril as part of the effort has moved his four-year-old key lime pie business out of his residence and residential driveway and into a more heavily trafficked commercial location at 3606 Grand Avenue.

His Fookem's Fabulous pies shares space with Vivian Jordan and her circa-1968 Maya Hatcha, a retailer of "ethnic clothing, handmade jewelry and all things spiritual."

Abril began selling his classic, mango, coconut and Tahitian key lime pies when he lost time from television production work during Covid.

He now sells Fookem's Fabulous pies direct to consumer and wholesales to restaurants that include Atchana's Homegrown Thai in the Grove. Abril also caters events as he has for pro sports stars.
