Woman Killed By New Brightline Train
A woman was killed by a Brightline train hours before the new line was set to begin service.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL — A woman was struck and killed by a Brightline train hours before the new line was set to begin service, according to Boynton Beach police. The incident occurred around 6:25 p.m. on Friday. Brightline was scheduled to begin service between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, Brightline held an invitation-only inaugural event that brought together elected officials and community leaders. The service also experienced glitches with its website on Thursday brought on by high traffic.

Boynton Beach police said that the train was traveling toward West Palm Beach when it struck the woman. No one on the train was injured.
"It is unclear at this time what she was doing on the tracks," police said.
