Authorities Seek Teen in Apparent Mardi Gras Stabbing
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies are looking to speak with a teenage male in what appears to be an accidental stabbing at the Dunedin Mardi Gras celebration downtown on Feb. 21.
A man dressed as a pirate was stabbed late Tuesday during Dunedin's downtown Mardi Gras celebration.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies say rescuers airlifted Robert Joseph Casey, 56, of Madeira Beach, to Bayfront Medical Center with non-lifethreatening injuries. They believe he may have been hurt inadvertently while posing for photographs with a group of unknown teenagers at the Main Street and Pinellas Trail crossing at around 9:15 p.m.
Deputies report that one of the teens grabbed a knife that Casey carried in a sheath as part of his pirate costume and pointed it at him during the photograph. Shortly afterward, someone noticed blood on the man's shirt, authorities reported in a press release.
