Sandbags Available for Isaac

City officials announced Thursday that sandbags are available for residents preparing for Tropical Storm Isaac. Tampa Bay is still in the cone of uncertainty as of Friday morning.

City officials announced Thursday that sandbags are available for residents preparing for Tropical Storm Isaac. Tampa Bay is still in the cone of uncertainty as of Friday morning. 

Sandbags are free. Residents must fill their own bags using shovels and bags on site, the city website says. 

Residents in special need of assistance can request delivery.

As of 5 a.m. Friday, weather forecasters predict Tropical Storm Isaac will grow into a Category 1 hurricane. Tampa Bay is still in the cone of uncertainty, but the storm seems to be moving west into the Gulf of Mexico, headed toward New Orleans.
