Five Things to Know Today: Monday, Aug. 22

Plug in to your community: The back-to-school edition.

1) Today's weather? Young students may see scattered showers and thunderstorms from their classroom windows. National Weather Service says they could come after lunch. Otherwise, expect partly sunny skies, with a high near 92 (but it'll feel a lot like 102). (Bet the high schoolers are glad they can !)

2) Need to fill up on the cheap? Lowest reported gas price in Dunedin holds steady at $3.41 (regular). Fill up for that price at three stations: (1621 Main St.), (1001 Broadway, cash only), and Mobil (1201 Belcher Road).

3) Your regular early commute may be cram-packed with school traffic! Dunedin High's big 50th-anniversary back-to-school bash may jam roads, especially any alternate, routes. Remember, too, that starting tomorrow, you'll have for travels to and from Clearwater on Edgewater Drive.

4) Patch tagged along last week as founder Rob Ditro delivered 20 packs to a school struck by tragedy last year. If your school has a need for backpacks or you would just like to donate, contact Ditro at Jdbd2@aol.com. Read the full story.

5) Parents and educators, learn how to get the most out of Dunedin Patch this school year! We have you keep folks connected with what's going on at your school.
