Five Things to Know Today: Thursday, Nov. 3

Another message from Fire Marshal Bill, where to find the cheapest gas price and why everyone should attend the Falcons game on Friday.

1) Today's weather? Expect mostly sunny skies, with a high near 78, according to the National Weather Service.

2) The lowest reported gas price in Dunedin is still $3.27 (regular) at , 1621 Main St, according to TampaGasPrices.com. The next lowest is $3.29 at four gas stations around town.

3) Dunedin Fire Marshal Bill McElligott wants to remind you to test and/or change the batteries in your smoke detectors when you set your clocks back this weekend. McElligott warns: smoke detectors with regular batteries or ones hard-wired with a battery back up should have the batteries replaced. Smoke detectors with 10-year batteries should be tested. If the units do not operate, replace the entire smoke detector.

4) Largo High barely inched out Dunedin High for Fox 13's last pep rally of the season (by one percentage point). That's no reason not to turn out for the Falcons' last home game of the season (against Lennard High, from Ruskin). It's also senior night Friday, so we should see some real heart on that field. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

5) Relay for Life Dunedin is kicking off the organization season at the on Nov. 15 (6 p.m.). If you've ever been interested in participating, this might be a good time to show up and find out what it's about and how it helps the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
