Man On E-Bike Injured In Crash On Pinellas Trail: Sheriff’s Office
A man on an e-bike was injured in a crash with a truck at an intersection of the Pinellas Trail in Dunedin, deputies said.
DUNEDIN, FL — A man on an e-bike was seriously injured in a Tuesday afternoon crash at an intersection along the Pinellas Trail in Dunedin, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Raymond Schemkes, 30, was driving a 2019 Ford F-250 truck east on Wilson Street approaching the Pinellas Trail just before 4 p.m.
At the same time, 67-year-old Jeffrey Slocum of Dunedin was riding his e-bike south on the Pinellas Trail through the intersection of Wilson Street.

Schemkes stopped at the stop sign and accelerated through the intersection when Slocum failed to stop for the stop sign and hit the truck, investigators said.
Slocum wasn’t wearing a helmet and was brought to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Schemkes was uninjured and cooperated with deputies after the crash. Impairment and speed don’t seem to be factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
