Spoto’s Shines a Spotlight on New Electronic Menus
The upscale steak joint recently added illuminated menus at its Main Street location.
You left your glasses at home and now in the dim lighting of the restaurant, you can't read the menu.
Well, Jimmy Stewart, owner of , has come up with an innovative solution. He recently added 100 electronically illuminated menus at his Main Street establishment.
“People open them up and go, 'Wow. I can read them without my glasses.' Or they wait for their dinner partner to open them so they can watch the expression on their face,” he said.

The menus cost roughly $65 apiece and take about an hour to charge completely.
Stewart received his shipment of 100 units about a month ago, and he says he hasn’t regretted the decision, despite the potential pitfalls of giving expensive electronic equipment to his customers on a nightly basis.

"They're an investment," he said. "You really have to have a $30-$60 check average to warrant handing $120 worth of menus to customers."
Despite the cost and risk involved, Stewart thinks the menus are worth it, as they add a little cache to his place as well as help people who have trouble reading in the dimly lit restaurant.
In fact he likes them so much, he says he might order another set for when he opens his new Italian restaurant on Main Street in a few weeks.
