Underwear Battle Rages On
A mid-week count shows the Dunedin Public Library well ahead of Palm Harbor in week-long drive.
The Dunedin Public Library is still well ahead in a week-long competition with Palm Harbor for the most undies.
Mid-week estimates have with 15 to 20 "s" donations since Monday, a librarian said. Dunedin began the week with 83 packages of children's underwear, dwarfing Palm Harbor Library's 3-package launch. Palm Harbor has six packages to date.
The friendly competition between libraries is part of a clothing drive for children’s new, unopened packages of underwear, which will go to Clearwater-based charity Clothes to Kids.

Palm Harbor's underwear drive, called "Wild Wedgie Week" culminates with a Captain Underpants Party on Saturday. Its library officials hope the party will help them pull out an unexpected win over Dunedin.
Dunedin donations made by Friday (Oct. 7) go toward the final count against Palm Harbor, but packages will be accepted at the library's Youth Services desk through Oct. 26 for the charity.

Clothes to Kids provides quality used and new clothing at no cost to low-income, school-age children in Pinellas County.
The charity, which started in Dunedin, says it gives out about 1,500 pairs of new underwear each week because every child that shops at the stores receives five pairs of underwear with their wardrobe.
Most-needed underwear sizes are:
Girls: Size 4 to 16
Juniors: Size 5 and up (especially bikinis)
Boys: Size 4 to 16 (both briefs and boxers)
Young Men: Size 30 to 32 and up (especially boxers)
