Here's Why All the Fire Engines Were at the East Lake Target Store

"I don't see a fire. I don't know what they're doing," said an East Lake Patch reader about the multiple fire trucks she saw at the Boot Ranch Target store on Monday. "There's a whole lot of activity there."

Did you see all of the fire trucks at the Shoppes of Boot Ranch Target store on Monday?

We were contacted by an East Lake Patch reader who said she saw four fire trucks, one of which had a telescoping ladder. She said the fire trucks were near the back of the Target store.

"I don't see a fire. I don't know what they're doing," she said. "There's a whole lot of activity there."

We called East Lake Fire Rescue and spoke with Assistant Chief Jason Gennaro who told us that firefighters with East Lake Fire Rescue and Oldsmar Fire Rescue were teaming up for some fire training exercises.

"We need to do a certain number of hours per year," he said.

As for the telescoping ladder, that was part of the drill as well. Gennaro says there was a tube underneath the ladder that sprays water.
