Love My Neighborhood: Ridgemoor Offers Convenience and Wildlife Encounters

Residents in East Lake's Ridgemoor community enjoy living away from the hustle and bustle of East Lake Road. The upscale complex features a variety of housing options, from condos to villas and homes, which are located in the subdivisions along Ridgemoor Drive, the main road into the community.

Ridgemoor Drive begins at East Lake Road, where two small shopping complexes are located that feature a Publix grocery store, gas station, restaurants and other businesses. The western end of the complex backs up to Brooker Creek Preserve, which is home to a variety of wildlife.

The sidewalk along Ridgemoor Drive is a popular place to stroll and exercise. A resident who was taking a brisk walk along Ridgemoor Drive says he's lived in the Brookhaven subdivision since 2004 and likes the woodsy surroundings and the fact that the development is well-cared for when it comes to the common areas. "They maintain everything," he said.

A resident of nearby Lansbrook Village takes daily walks in Ridgemoor. She prefers walking on scenic Ridgemoor Drive instead of busy East Lake Road, where vehicle fumes bother her. "Lansbrook Village leaves a lot to be desired," she said.

Jared T., age 14, likes to jog on Ridgemoor Drive. The East Lake High student recently moved here from Tampa with his family. He likes his new neighborhood more than the apartment he used to live in.

"I have a back yard. There's lots of animals here." The teen said he's already seen turkeys, coyotes and rabbits in his subdivision. He's not the only one to see wildlife in Ridgemoor, during our visit we spotted a couple wild turkeys strolling through the front yard of one home.
