Patch Readers Respond to Ticketing Slow Drivers

The Florida House and Senate recently approved a measure that would make driving slow in the fast lane punishable by a fine. Patch readers are speaking out on the topic.

After the recent approval of measure that would allow for punishment of slow drivers in the fast lane, East Lake Patch readers commented with their thoughts. 

The Florida House and Senate approved the measure which makes it illegal to drive more than 10 mph under the speed limit if your vehicle is riding in the fast lane. The proposal will become the law of the land in Florida if Gov. Rick Scott signs on the dotted line.

A number of readers showed support in their comments.

"It's about time to penalize these inconsiderate slow pokes!!" wrote Tommaso Vincenzo Gambino.

Thomas Trimmer added to the thread: "I hate people that drive slow in the fast lane. It is totally insensitive and inconsiderate. These people seem to be in their own little self-oriented world without any concerns about the people around them."

Other readers had their own philosophies about the law.

Carla Gibson wrote, "As much as I hate to see slow drivers in the fast lane, I think these 'laws' are created to be just another opportunity to get more money for the state (counties) from ticket fines. There are too many laws .. but it's ALL about money."
