Vehicle Splits In Half After Striking 2 Concrete Poles In Oldsmar

A 42-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following an accident on Saturday that split the car in half.

OLDSMAR, FL — A 42-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following an accident on Tampa Road Saturday afternoon in which her vehicle split in half.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, around 4:25 p.m. Alana Rodriguez was heading east on Tampa Road at a high speed when she attempted to switch lanes and lost control at 3696 Tampa Road in Oldsmar, struck a concrete power pole, overturned and struck another concrete pole, splitting the vehicle in half.

Investigators said speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash.
