Imagine sitting down to a nice family dinner of beans, rice and beetles.
Yes, you read that right – beetles!
The United Nations is touting the benefits of edible bugs as a way to combat hunger, pollution and global warming, according to The Huffington Post. The agency says bugs are high in protein and low in fat. Their cultivation is easier on the environment, too, and they’re never in short supply.

There are more than 1,900 different insect species people can readily consume, according to the Post. These include caterpillars and beetles. About 2 billion people already eat insects on a regular basis, the U.N. reports.
