5 Things to Know in Gulfport: End of Summer, Elvis in Gulfport, Free Meditation Class

Are you ready for the weekend? You should be! There's a lot going on in Gulfport! Here's what you need to know today.

End of Summer: Oh no! Summer is coming to an end. That's right. Pinellas County Public Schools begin on Monday. Here's what you need to know about the first day of school at Boca Ciega High School. Principal Michael Vigue says all students need to report to their Safety Net Teachers for a brief period to start the day. Safety Net Teacher locations will be posted throughout the school and on our website www.bocaciega.org . During the Safety Net period students will receive schedules and school forms that will need to be completed and returned ASAP. After the Safety Net period students will begin a BLUE Day schedule, periods 1,3,5, and 7. Our complete bell schedule with times is available at the bottom of the home page on our website. Offices will be back on their regular schedule: Monday through Friday from 6:50am to 3:00pm.

Summer Meditation Class: Ted Leitho is teaching free meditation classes the following Saturdays this summer: Aug. 18, Sept. 1 and 8 at the Gulfport Public Library. There is a sign-up sheet for anyone to register at the Reference Desk at the library at 5501 28th Ave. S. For more information, contact the reference desk at 727-893-1133 or 727-893-1073.
