5 Things to Know in Gulfport: Weekend Events

Council Workshop Recap, Weekend Events, 30% chance of showers and more in "5 Things to Know Today."

City Council Workshop: Did you miss Thursday night's City Council Workshop? You can watch the entire meeting replaying at 10 a.m. Friday morning on channel 615 on Brighthouse. Also, officials will add the meeting on the City's website sometime today.

Gulfport Terms of Office: During Thursday night's City Council Workshop leaders agreed to allow voters to choose whether or not to extend terms of office for City Council members and the Mayor. Current elections are held every three years for the Mayor and two years for council members. The terms could extend to three and four years; three for council, four for the Mayor. The question will be on the next March ballot.

Domestic Partnership Registry: Several residents and supporters addressed city leaders in favor of creating a domestic partnership registry during Thursday's workshop. Gulfport Patch will have the complete story later today.
