Fat Tuesday: Who loves beads, King Cake and masks? Today is Fat Tuesday. And according to Wikipedia, Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday and Fat Tuesday is called that because it's the last night of "eating richer" before fasting of the Lenten season, which starts on Ash Wednesday. Learn more about Mardi Gras on the official website! It's going to be "happening" at the Gulfport Senior Center today. They're annual Mardi Gras party is from 2 - 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

City Council Meeting: There is a Gulfport City Council Meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Catherine Hickman Theater not Gulfport City Hall. The theater is located at 5501 27th Ave S. You can view and print the agenda before the meeting on the city's website. Because the meeting is being held at the theater, the meeting will not be broadcast live. It will be taped and added on the city's website the next day.
