5 Things to Know Today: Gulfport Library Needs Your Books
Donate today to the Gulfport Library for its annual book sale.

Donate to the Library: The Circle of Friends of the Gulfport Library is hosting it's second annual Book Sale on Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Last year's event was a huge success because of the thousands of donations. So, again, organizers are asking anyone to donate gently DVD's, books and CDs to the Gulfport Library, at 5501 27th Ave S.. The group is unable to accept video and audio cassettes or magazines. Circle of Friends: Come out to the Circle of Friends 1st annual meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Gulfport Senior Center. Thomas French will be a guest speaker at the meeting. French wrote "Unanswered Cries," about the murder of Gulfport resident Karen Gregory. He also authored "Zoo Story: Life in the Garden of Captives," about the Lowry Park Zoo. He worked for 18 years as a journalist for the St. Petersburg Times and is a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Board of Adjustment: The City of Gulfport Board of Adjustment meeting is tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Gulfport Neighborhood Center. View the agenda on the City's website.

Energy Assistance for Seniors: Senior citizens may be eligible for $600 to help pay power bills through the Emergency Energy Assistance Program. To receive assistance, county residents who are age 60 or older must have a crisis with a delinquent notice from the utility company or a notice that power has been shut off. They may also qualify for a voucher for heaters and blankets. In hot weather, they may qualify to receive repairs to a cooling unit or a voucher for a fan.
