5 Things to Know Today: Springfest, Freedom Found, CERT

Springfest: Mark your calendars! The 18th Annual Springfest is Saturday, March 31 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. in downtown Gulfport! And it's FREE! There will be arts and crafts, a children's play area, live music, bonnet contest and more! Learn more about the event in our article "Springfest Just Around the Corner." Freedom Found: Tickets are on sale now online for the musical drama Freedom Found at the Catherine Hickman Theater. Opening night is on Friday, March 30 with shows on March 31, April 1, 6, 7, and 8 in Gulfport. Tickets start at $20. For more information email freedomfoundmusical@tampabay.rr.com.

CERT Training: CERT training will prepare you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in any type of emergency. In the event of a community disaster you can chose to use your training to provide the greatest good for the greatest number of victims, while protecting yourself from becoming a victim. The training is offered through the Gulfport Fire Department CERT team and is free. Two full days are needed to cover the curriculum. The next class will begin April 14 and April 21. AARP Tax Help: There is free tax assistance at the Gulfport Public Library on Mondays and Fridays in March. Come between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and bring social security cards for all persons listed on the tax returns, a photo ID and all tax documents such as W2's, etc. For more information call the library at 893-1074.
