Dan Stevens will be hosting a 10 week series of folk/Americana songwriters at the Ale & the Witch, beginning October 11, 2011.
The series will include artists all the way from Pine Island to the Nature Coast, featuring some of Florida's best songwriters. The series begins with Steve Vaclavik, an alt.twang artist who is at the forefront of Tampa Bay's music scene with his talented songwriting. The amazing
Mike Jergensen will be in town the following week, offering his observational tunes on life in Florida and the world in general. Mike's an award winning songwriter and a regular at most Florida Folk festivals.
The acts range from Annie Wenz, a national recording artist who lives on Pine Island to Mindy Simmons, whose repertoire and talent are virtually unsurpassed in Florida. Annie has toured internationally, dynamically presenting her view of the world and convincing you that it's time to dance. Mindy Simmons, the Sarasota songbird, penned "One World," one of the most beautiful, hopeful sad songs
ever written. She's also a regular on the Florida Folk circuit, amusing and amazing audiences everywhere.
Both Carly Bak and Craig Daniel Hardin will be appearing in the series; they are currently performing in Sabal, a three-piece swamp-icana band and are both talented performers and songwriters in their own right. They'll each be appearing without the band, showcasing their original songs.
Ronnie Elliott will be the featured performer the first week in November, offering his insightful views on the world, music and life in general. Brian Smalley, Florida's own traveling troubadour, is performing the following week. Brian is deservedly popular on Florida's festival circuit, penning engrossing Florida and Americana music.
Charley Groth, an international touring artist, will be at the Ale & the Witch in October. Charley has toured the world and has been a Florida Master Artist since 1989. His dry humor and engaging style are a perfect complement to his musical talent. Gove Scrivenor will be on deck at the end of November. Gove is an engaging performer, offering high energy music from the place where Folk and Blues meet.
