Aquamania to Feature Races, Live Music and Dunk Tank, Rain or Shine

Water, water and more water is expected at the first annual Aquamania at the Gulfport Beach and The Point on Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Expect live music, fun races, children's activities, a dunk tank and more this Saturday in Gulfport. And . . . did we mention it's free! Yep, free admission and free parking in downtown Gulfport. But, be sure to bring plenty of cash to register for races, grab a bite to each, or purchase beer or wine at The Point. You can also spend some green at the dunk tank! The dunk tank will feature local "celebrities" all day long including Mayor Mike Yakes, Lori Rosso and Gulfport Patch Editor Cherlene Willis. Stop by at 1 p.m. and dunk Cherlene for a Patch T-shirt! The dunk tank will be at The Point which is behind the Gulfport Recreation Center.

Aquamania is from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Lori Rosso with the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce put together an "Aquamania Survival Guide" including a schedule of the kayak race, paddleboard race, bartender beach race, corn hole tournament,  water balloon toss and recycle regatta. The main event, recycle regatta, is from 4 - 6 p.m. Be sure to watch out for these home-made "boats" as they take off from "The Point."

There will also be a JetLev demonstration at 10:30 a.m. at the beach! For kids, there will be a salt watercolor area with games and art from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
