Baby Ducks Saved From Storm Drain
The babies tumbled down a storm drain, and their mother could not reach them. A quick-thinking resident knew just the thing to do.

The baby duck, more fuzz than feathers, had no business wandering around 22nd Avenue South and 52nd Street in Gulfport.
Tracy Suarez spotted the duckling, which then dropped out of sight suddenly, writes Al Tompkins on Vimeo about the rescue of a duck family. (See his video with this story.)
Turns out the duckling, along with its eight brothers and sisters, tumbled down a storm drain in a parking lot. Their mom was quacking like crazy, too.

Check out Tompkins' video about the rescue, aided by the quick thinking of Suarez, who ran to the Gulfport Fire Department for help.
Rescuers plucked the baby ducks from the drain and shooed the mom into a dog kennel, then placed her brood safely inside, too.
