Doug Hudson Receives Spirit of Gulfport Award
Mayor Mike Yakes presented Gulfport resident Doug Hudson the Spirit of Gulfport Award for his efforts in organizing several community volunteer events with the Gulfport Neighbors.
"I'm honored," Doug Hudson said after receiving the Spirit of Gulfport Award Tuesday night.
Mayor Mike Yakes presented Doug Hudson with the award during Tuesday night's Regular City Council Meeting.
Hudson was nominated during a February City Council Meeting for his efforts with the Gulfport Neighbors and the numerous cleanup events in the city including the January volunteer event at Alan Dreischarf's home in Gulfport. Nearly 100 people came out and helped put up a new fence, clean Dreischarf's front and back yard, trim several trees and clean out a garage. Hudson spearheaded that effort after hearing about Mr. Dreischarf's difficulty in keeping up his yard from Community Service Officer Robert McLaughlin.
