5 Things to Know in Gulfport: Domestic Registry to be Signed into Law

Registry Passed: The Gulfport City Council voted unanimously to pass the domestic partnership registry Tuesday night. Today, Gulfport Mayor Mike Yakes will sign the registry into law at 9 a.m. at Gulfport City Hall. Everyone is invited to attend.
Spirit of Gulfport Nomination: Gulfport Mayor Mike Yakes nominated resident Irving Zeidar for the Spirit of Gulfport Award during Tuesday night's meeting. Yakes says the 96-year-old WWI veteran is an "inspiration" to him and he says Zeidar deserves the award.
Volunteers Needed: The Gulfport Historical Society needs your help. Do you like to work with antiques, old photography equipment, old kitchwares and more? You can volunteer as a curatorial assistant for the museum. Organizers are also asking for a program chairperson and help with their website. If you have any ideas for fundraiser, you're also asked to reach out to the society.
