Congratulations Jennifer Crowson, 2012 Officer of the Year

Gulfport Police Officer Jennifer Crowson is named 2012 Officer of the Year for GPD.

Gulfport Police Officer Jennifer Crowson was honored at Gulfport City Hall Tuesday night for her public service and dedication to community programs.

Wounded Vet and Vice President of VETSports Brian Taylor Urruela also attended and presented Crowson with a Certificate of Appreciation for her volunteer work in organizing the fundraiser volleyball match on Veteran's Day.

"When the police and fire departments were challenged to take part in a fundraising volleyball match against wounded veterans, Officer Crowson volunteered to be our team captain and spokesperson. The event was considered an amazing success,"according to Chief Robert Vincent's 2012 Annual Police Report.

Upon graduating from the University of South Florida in 2011, Crowson joined the Gulfport Police Department. Since then, she's jumped in to help organize the fundraiser volleyball match and advise the Gulfport Police Explorers.

"Under Officer Crowson's leadership, the GPD Explorer Post attended Delegates Meetings in Crystal River, West Palm and Fort Myers. They also participated in the Tampa Police Explorers Awards Banquet Spring Break Explorer Academy and St. Petersburg Police Firearm Safety Course," according to the report.
