Patch Minute: St. Paddy's Day Events

Welcome to Patch Minute and welcome to your weekend. Every week we'll fill you in on local events and things to do in St. Pete, Gulfport and the Gulf Beaches.

In Gulfport

Happy St. Patty's Day . . . almost! If you're headed out for corned beef and cabbage, we've got some stops for you on Saturday.

In Gulfport, we're starting at O'Maddy's! O'Maddy's is hosting a huge st. Patrick's Day Celebration and this year, they're helping raise money for the Gulfport Teen Council by adding additional seating in the street. That's right, they're shutting down the street and will have live music out here from 4 - 9 p.m. Tickets for one of the 150 additional spots are $20 and include dinner and two drinks. You can buy a ticket before the event at O'Maddy's, Bo-Tiki and the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce.

While you're in town, be sure to stop by a few other events: we've have the Third Saturday Art Walk 6 - 10, Antiques in the Park from 10 - 5 at Clymer Park, The Citywide Yard Sale - pretty much from dawn to dusk and the City sponsored cleanup at Clam Bayou from 9 a.m. - noon.

In. St. Pete

Let's head over to St. Pete where Durty Nelly's is also hosting a St. Paddy's Day Block Party on 1st Ave North. It's free to get in and there will be more than 20 bands, performers and DJ's including Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Less Than Jake! All ages are welcome. The party over there starts at 8 a.m.

Also, if you're looking for the "fastest" St. Paddy's Day party around, head to Jonny Reno's and The Pier from 4 - 8 on Saturday. They are featuring rides in a real Grand Prix Car. Now, that is just one of several events going on at the day-long block party. There's a Havey's 5K Run at 7 a.m. and live music starting at 1 p.m.

On the Beaches

Finally, let's head to the beaches where we have Irish Restaurant Madeleina Cottage on Corey Avenue. There'll be Irish music from Danny Mac & Mary from 5 - 8 p.m. There'll also be Irish step dancers performing at the bar.

And Daiquiri Deck is having a shamrock hunt in the bar. I'm guessing it's like an easter egg hunt? Green Shamrocks are full of prizes and the gold shamrock wins $50 cash. There's a variety of Irish drink specials being served all day.
