Welcome to Patch Minute and welcome to your weekend. Every week we'll fill you in on local events and things to do in St. Pete, Gulfport and the Gulf Beaches.
In Gulfport
Who loves dogs? I do! That's why Gulfport Patch will be at the 8th Annual Gulfport's Get Rescued animal fundraiser and event in downtown Gulfport on Saturday. The free event is from 10 - 6 and will feature at least 60 animal rescue groups from around the area. There will be a pet parade, pet games and plenty of rescues with animals that need a home. So, if you're thinking about adopting a new family member, come out to Gulfport's Get Rescued. And, bring your own furry friend, on a leach of course - to come enjoy the town.

In St. Petersburg
Friday night, we have a huge, award-winning performer taking the stage at the Mahaffey Theater. Ms. Diana Ross will be performing at 8 p.m. Ross was the lead singer of the MoTown Group The Supremes in the 60's. Did you know Ross is one of a few recording artists that have 2 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? She has one as a solo artist and one as the member of The Supremes.
We've got a big game this weekend in St. Pete. The annual kids & kubs vs City Hall Stars Softball game is on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Northshore Park Softball Field. Last year, the City Hall Stars softball squad finally defeated St. Petersburg’s world-renowned senior softball team, the Kids & Kubs, by a score of 25-19. Who do you think will take home the win this year? Better come out to the game to find out! By the way, it's free!
