Woman Intentionally Drives Into Ocean, Then Holds Knife To Her Neck
A woman who intentionally drove into the ocean off Gulfport and held a knife to her neck has been taken to a psychiatric facility.

GULFPORT, FL — Police say a woman who intentionally drove into the ocean off Gulfport and then held a knife to her own neck has been involuntarily admitted to the psychiatric facility.
Around 6 a.m. Sunday, Gulfport police officers responded to the area of 58th Street South and Shore Boulevard South after receiving calls about a vehicle in the water and a woman screaming.
Police located the woman in the water and pulled her out with the help of the Gulfport Fire Department. While walking to the ambulance, she broke away from rescue personnel and pulled a knife out from under her shirt, placing it on her neck and threatening to kill herself.

Officers said she would not comply with orders to put the knife down so police used a rubber projectile to disarm her.
