Boil Water Notice In Effect For Some Polk County Residents

A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for residents of the Christina Lakes subdivision in Polk County.

BARTOW, FL — A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for residents of the Christina Lakes subdivision within the Southwest Region Public Water System. The notice affects about 204 customers.

"As a precaution, we advise that all water users drink bottled water and/or boil water to a rolling boil for at least one minute for cooking and drinking," said Polk County Utilities on Saturday afternoon.

The boil water notice was issued following a loss of system pressure that occurred during water main repairs in the Christina Lakes subdivision.

"This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until ongoing water sampling analysis is completed," officials said. "Polk County Utilities will issue notice rescinding this precautionary measure once satisfactory results have been confirmed."

Officials said it typically takes about 48 hours to achieve satisfactory results. Officials added that area water lines have been flushed as a precaution.
