Watch: Casey Anthony Breaks Silence
Casey Anthony has broken her silence about her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee's, 2008 death.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — Just a week after a former judge offered his own theory in the 2008 death of 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony, the child’s mother has broken her silence. Casey Anthony, now 30, was acquitted of first-degree murder charges in 2011 and has spent much of her time in seclusion in South Florida ever since.
Caylee Anthony was reported missing from her Orlando-area home in July 2008 about a month after she was last seen. The revelation of the toddler’s disappearance rocked the Orlando community and sparked a highly publicized search. Her decomposed body was found on Dec. 11 of that year, ultimately leading to her mother’s arrest and eventual acquittal in the case.
Just what happened to Caylee remains a mystery. A cause of death was never determined.

“I’m still not even certain as I stand here today about what happened,” ABC Action News quoted Casey Anthony as telling the AP.
Anthony told the AP she understands why people feel the way they do about her, considering the time lapse in reporting and a defense that involved an accidental drowning. Even so, she admitted she doesn’t care “about what anyone thinks.”
Just last week, former Circuit Judge Belvin Perry Jr., who presided over Anthony’s murder trial, offered his own theory in the case. His theory involves the chloroform that investigators say Anthony went online to research. The substance was also found in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car, where prosecutors alleged Caylee’s body had been placed.
“There was a possibility that she may have utilized that to keep the baby quiet,” Perry told the Orlando Sentinel. That, he told the paper, might have led the jury to a second-degree or manslaughter conviction if they'd come to the same conclusion.
They did not.
Casey Anthony was convicted on four counts of providing false information to police. Two of those counts were later dropped.
After serving her time, Casey Anthony relocated to the West Palm Beach area, where she’s mainly tried to stay out of the spotlight. As for what other people think about her, she said, “I’m OK with myself. I sleep pretty good at night.”
