With more than a month to go before his Jan. 20, 2017, inauguration, the controversy surrounding Trump and his election continues to swirl. A rift between Trump and Republicans has surfaced amid allegations about Russian hacking potentially influencing the election. Senate Republicans believe the hacking of Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic party email servers is a non-partisan issue that demands investigation. Trump’s transition team, however, says “bitter” people are behind the allegations.

Meanwhile, the Green Party’s failed presidential nominee Jill Stein was effectively shut down Monday in her effort to force recounts in several states. Stein was only successful in launching a recount in Wisconsin, but the results showed only minor changes to the vote total. Stein had also sought recounts in Pennsylvania and Michigan, but was blocked by court rulings.

Trump’s Nov. 8 win still needs to be backed by the Electoral College, which is scheduled to vote on Dec. 19. The Republican National Committee is keeping close tabs on the proceedings to make certain the 306 Republican electors cast votes for Trump, Politico reported Tuesday.
