Lakeland Firefighters Roll Out 2017 Rescued Pets Calendar

Money raised by calendar sales will benefit rescued animals in Lakeland.

LAKELAND, FL — The Lakeland Fire Department and SPCA Florida have teamed up to give area residents a way to mark the days of 2017 while gaining safety tips and information along the way. The new Rescued Pets 2017 Calendar, featuring Lakeland firefighters and rescued pets, will be unveiled Saturday, Nov. 12.

“The calendar features actual SPCA Florida rescued pets and buff Lakeland firefighters beautifully photographed at famous landmarks throughout Lakeland,” the organizations explained in an email to media. “Each month of the year also features helpful safety tips and information from both organizations.”

Calendars go on sale Saturday, Nov. 12 after this year’s edition is officially unveiled during the SPCA Florida’s Auction for Animals event at the Lakeland Center. Copies will be available after the reveal for a $10 donation. They’ll also be available online at www.spcaflorida.org or in person at the following locations:

Last year’s calendar drive raised almost $10,000, according to both agencies. Money was used to help pay “for the medical care of animals encountered on human emergency scenes by the Lakeland Fire Department and treated at SPCA Florida's McClurg Medical Center,” the email said. Some of the proceeds were also used to purchase new animal oxygen masks for firefighters to use.
