Mall Santa Says Hillary Clinton on ‘Naughty List,’ Gets Replaced: Reports

A Florida mall Santa has been replaced after reportedly telling a little girl Hillary Clinton was on his naughty list.

SANFORD, FL — A mall Santa is out of a gig bringing joy to the hearts of children after he allegedly turned one little girl’s smile upside down by revealing the name of a person on his naughty list: Hillary Clinton.

It seems the little girl’s mother wasn’t so amused by the mall Santa’s political revelation. She proceeded to tell management at Sanford’s Seminole Towne Center about the encounter, according to several media outlets. Mall officials then reportedly reached out to the company contracted to provide the Santa, The Noerr Programs, which quickly replaced the Santa fill-in.

Noerr, a Colorado-based company, puts on seasonal events across the country. The company’s website says it has reached “unparalleled benchmarks with our emphasis on the experience: creating magic, inspiring smiles, capturing memories.”

It seems the little girl and her mother didn’t quite think their experience lived up to the company's claim.

The incident in question reportedly happened last Tuesday and involved a 10-year-old girl. While the mom and daughter were happy to learn the child was on the “nice list,” the big reveal about Clinton just didn’t sit so well, Click Orlando reported.

Noerr spokesman Charlie Russell told Click Orlando his company has apologized to the child’s family. The Santa, who isn’t being named, has reportedly been sent for counseling through the company’s human resources department after making what he said was a joke.

Patch reached out to The Noerr Programs and Seminole Towne Center’s ownership company, the Washington Prime Group. Neither have provided a statement yet.

The mall Santa’s statement comes on the heels of Clinton’s bitter election defeat against Republican challenger Donald Trump. In the days that have followed the Nov. 8 election, protests have broken out across the country. While most have been peaceful, meant to challenge now President-elect Trump’s stand on key issues, such as immigration, some have not.

Portland, Oregon, has been the epicenter of the most violent protests. Law enforcement officials there declared that city’s protests riots and ended up making 112 arrests. Only about a third of the people charged in the post-election Portland riots actually turned out to cast their ballots, according to a Patch investigation. An estimated $1 million in damage was created in the post-election riots in Portland.

Sanford, where the mall Santa brouhaha erupted, has also been in and out of the national spotlight courtesy of one of its most infamous residents: George Zimmerman. The former neighborhood watch captain shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in 2012. His 2013 acquittal on second-degree murder charges related to Trayvon Martin's death whipped up racial tensions across the country. Most recently, Zimmerman and Sanford both made headlines after the controversial figure was bounced from a bar after allegedly making racial slurs.
