Polk County School Evacuated Because Of 'Smoky Haze'
A Polk County school was evacuated Wednesday because of what first responders described as a "smoky haze."

WINTER HAVEN, FL — The Language and Literacy Academy in Winter Haven was evacuated Wednesday morning after the school experienced what first responders described as a "smoky haze" inside the building.
"All students and staff were safely evacuated and are currently at Grace Lutheran, directly across the street," said Jamie Brown of the Winter Haven Police and Fire Departments.
The facility is a free public charter school for children with special education needs between pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. The school is located at 330 Ave C SE in Winter Haven.

"Winter Haven Fire Department arrived on scene and are working to determine the source," said Brown. "There is no visible fire, however a complete sweep of the building is being conducted."
