A Second Concealed Weapons Class Open For Registration: Sheriff
Polk residents who are in need of a concealed weapons permit can register for an upcoming training class with the sheriff's office.

BARTOW, FL — A second concealed weapons permit class has been added to the Polk County Sheriff's Office training schedule for locals on April 17.
This is the course required by the Florida Department of Agriculture as part of an application to obtain a concealed weapons permit. In order to participate, it costs $45 with proceeds going to Polk Sheriff's Charities, Inc. Refunds will not be given.
Each student is required to follow the below guidelines, according to the sheriff's office:

- A modern manufacture firearm capable of using modern ammunition
- Fifty rounds of clean modern manufacture ammunition
- Modern manufacture protective eye-wear designed for a shooting environment
- Modern manufacture hearing protection designed for a shooting environment
- Adequate sun protection.
- Hydration for extended outdoor activity
Students who will be late for the class, will not be allowed inside. They will have to reschedule. The afternoon class is 1 p.m.—5 p.m. The morning class is fully booked.
