Florida's 500th Anniversary Celebration Sunday in Largo

Sunday's family-friendly event at Heritage Village celebrates "the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de León's arrival on Florida's east coast."

Heritage Village is celebrating "the 500thanniversary of Juan Ponce de León's arrival on Florida's east coast."

The event is from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at Heritage Village in Largo. The family-friendly afternoon includes family crafts, live music, historical exhibits, storytelling and food vendors.

Learn more about Largo resident, Lester Dailey, who brought the exhibit entitled “For God and Gold”  to life through this blog. The exhibit, which is on display at Heritage Village showcases "reproduction weapons, nautical items, clothing, camp gear, religious items and other objects depicting everyday life during the ocean crossing and the subsequent exploration and colonization of Spanish Florida."
