Briarwood RV Park Development Talks Put on Hold by Largo Commission
The matter was scheduled to be addressed at Tuesday's meeting, but was moved to May 7 due the absence of some commission members.

The discussion of a development agreement for the Briarwood RV Park will have to wait another couple of weeks after the Largo City Commission moved to postpone the public hearing on the issue.
Largo Principal Planner Jesus Nino requested the matter be moved to the next commission meeting due to the fact that a number of commissioners were not present at Tuesday night's session, including Mayor Pat Gerard.
"The public hearing for this case was advertised for tonight, but because some of the commissioners are absent tonight, staff is requesting to continue this public hearing to the May 7, 2013 city commission meeting," Nino said.

Acting chairperson Harriet Crozier and the other three commissioners present agreed with Nino's request.
The Briarwood development issue has been a hot topic ever since the property's owners began exploring the option of turning the 13.8-acre RV park into an apartment complex back in September.

After receiving approval from the commission on first reading on November 7, neighbors of the property, located at 2098 Seminole Blvd., expressed concerns about the potential development.
"What will this do to the property value of the neighbors, their quality of life, traffic, wetlands? What does it do to tax values," asked Stanley Brand, who lives nearby.
In January, the Briarwood Park owner agreed to address the neighbors' concerns, prompting the creation of a development agreement that would allow nearby property owner's the opportunity to give more input in the design of the complex.
The commission will revisit the item at their next meeting on Tuesday, May 7, at 6 p.m. The commission meets at Largo City Hall, located at 201 Highland Ave.
