(Pet) Photos With Santa Set For Saturday

Pinellas County animal lovers are invited to bring their furry friends to animal services for a photo session with Mr. Claus himself.

LARGO, FL — Anyone who knows anything about Santa Claus knows the jolly old elf has a penchant for four-legged critters. After all, he counts reindeer among his closest friends.

Perhaps that’s why he so readily agreed to give the folks at Pinellas County Animal Services a hand during his busiest time of year. Santa will make a special stop in Largo on Saturday, Dec. 17 to help raise money for the Animal Welfare Trust Fund.

Mr. Claus is expected to arrive at animal services 12450 Ulmerton Road location around 10 a.m. He’ll stick around until 1 p.m. During his visit, he’ll pose for photos with residents’ pets in exchange for a $5 donation to the trust fund.

People hoping to bring home a pet during the holiday season will get their professional portraits taken for free if they adopt a critter from animal services on Dec. 17. To sweeten the deal, animal service is waiving adoption fees on large breed dogs and any dog over 25 pounds. To see a list of all adoptable dogs and cats, visit animal services online.

To make the special occasion even more festive, animal services plans to host a chance drawing with a suggested donation of $1. Tickets make holders eligible for such prizes as gift baskets for pets. Winners will be announced on Monday, Dec. 19.
