Pinellas County Hiring For Regional 911 Center

The county is looking for telecommunicators to answer calls for the emergency operations center.

LARGO, FL – Pinellas County is looking for a few good men and women to help communicate with people when they need it most.

The Pinellas Regional 911 Center is hiring people who are looking for a professional career in public service answering calls involving life-threatening crises and other public safety situations. Applications for law enforcement telecommunicators must be submitted by Sunday, Feb. 26.

Applicants must have six months or more of emergency, tactical or customer/public contact and complaint experience using telephone communications, including being able to type at a reasonable rate of speed.

Incumbents in this class must maintain a calm, compassionate, customer service-oriented demeanor while handling a variety of emergency and non-emergency public safety calls.

Work schedules vary and include compulsory assignments during disaster, emergency and/or special situations.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and successfully obtain and maintain required certifications including Florid Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Information Services Level 3 – CJIS Security & Awareness Certification and State of Florida 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification.

Desired skills include:

  • Ability to make prompt, accurate decisions during emergency situations
  • Ability to react calmly and secure essential information when dealing with excited people
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple calls and tasks
  • Ability to apply basic computer applications
